Fraudsters Target Elderly in Tandridge & Caterham

Surrey Police is warning residents in the Tandridge area to remain vigilant following a number of recent fraud offences.

Elderly residents have been targeted in Lingfield and Caterham. In three separate incidents, the victims were contacted by a man claiming that work needed to be done on neighbouring properties.

They were told they needed to pay £5,000 in cash to pay for specialist machinery to fix it.

In each case, no money was handed over due to the vigilance of local bank cashiers, and due family members who asked more questions.

The advice from Tandridge Neighbourhood Police is not to give personal details, bank cards, or money to someone you don’t know.
