A new cancer centre is due to open at East Surrey Hospital largely thanks to the generosity of local people in donating more than £1 million in the last 6 months.

The money included a contribution from an anonymous Surrey donor as well as from people running marathons, holding coffee mornings and cycling from John O’Groats to Lands End

The East Surrey Macmillan Cancer Support Centre will offer patients, family, friends and carers a range of support services including counselling services, financial advice and support groups as well as complimentary therapies.

The new centre is scheduled to open early next year.
