Crawley Taxi Firm Fined

A taxi firm owner has been fined over £3,000 for using drivers and cars not licensed by Crawley Borough Council.

Mawaz Khan, the operator of United Cars since August 2015, pleaded guilty to 10 offences at Worthing Magistrates Court.

The council’s taxi licensing authority, brought the case after evidence was found of Mr Khan was not following licensing laws.

Mr Khan was ordered to pay a fine of £150 per offence, totalling £1,500; a contribution of £1,500 towards the prosecution’s costs; and victim surcharge of £120.
