Possible Police Data Breach

Sussex Police and Surrey Police have been reprimanded by the Information Commissioner’s Office for recording more the 200,000 phone calls without people’s knowledge.

The reprimand was issued following the release of an app that captured personal data in 2016.

The ICO became aware that staff members in both forces had access to the app in 2020.

Both forces said the breach was “regrettable”.
