West Sussex County Council surplus vanishes

West Sussex County Council  has admitted there will be a shortfall of £2.2m in 2020-21 despite predicting two months ago it would be in the black by £13m.

The cabinet was told the authority’s position had “changed quite dramatically”

Jeremy Hunt the member for finance described the authority’s fiscal plans as “a little bit in the air”.

He added that due to the election government funding for next year was not in place.
