Drugs Arrests in Crawley

Three people from Crawley have been arrested on drugs charges.

Officers found a kilogramme of cocaine in a black Jaguar in Lindfield on Friday night after stopping the vehicle.

The discovery of narcotics then led police to search a property in Brighton Road where a further quantity of drugs was discovered.  A large quantity of cash was located inside another vehicle.

Two women, aged 29 and 38 years, and a man aged 47 years  were arrested on suspicion of concealing, disguising, converting, transferring or removing criminal property.  The man and 38 year-old woman were also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled class A drug.

The man was also arrested on possession of an offensive weapon.

 

Teenagers assault man in Gossops Green

A man has been assaulted in Gossops Green.

The 40-year-old victim approached a group of teenagers in the early hours of Saturday morning after hearing loud music and the sounds of bins being knocked in Kennet Close.

He asked the group to move on as they were disturbing residents.  The victim was then punched in the face by one of the boys, before being assaulted again by all three teenagers.  His front garden gate was also broken off its hinges.

The first suspect is described as a white boy, aged 15 or 16, 5′ 6″, slim, with short dark spiky hair and stubble. He was wearing a black hoody with white piping and motifs. He was carrying an Adidas man bag which was black with a white logo.

The second suspect is described as a black boy aged 16 or 17, 6’, with short tight Afro hair, a moustache. He was wearing a black puffer jacket and dark trousers.

The third suspect is described as a black boy aged 15 or 16 years, 5’ 8”, with short Afro hair. He was wearing a long sleeved black top.

Football Update

In League 2, Crawley Town lost 1-0 away to Port Vale on Saturday.

In the Bostik Premier Division Merstham drew 1-1 away to Corinthian Casuals.

The new structure at Step Four for this season means that Reigate team, South Park now play in the Bostik South Central Division where they lost 1-0 away to Uxbridge.  In the new Bostik South East Division, Horsham picked up their first points of the season winning 2-1 against Sevenoaks Town at Greatness Park. East Grinstead Town lost 3 nil away to Hythe Town and Three Bridges lost 5-2 away to Phoenix Sports.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division Horley Town won 1-0 away to AFC Hayes. Redhill won 2-1 against Knaphill at Kiln Brow.

Crawley Irish Festival Launch

Crawley Borough Council has awarded the Celtic and Irish Cultural Society a £5,000 community grant for the 2018 Crawley Irish Festival.  

The grant was handed to John Nolan, the Society’s Chairman at a launch event for the festival, held at the Town Hall last week. Event sponsors and members of the Irish community were present at the event together with the Mayor of Crawley, Councillor Carlos Castro.

The 23rd annual Crawley Irish Festival takes place at The Hawth on Sunday 26th August from midday.  Susy Radio will broadcast from the event.

Closure Order For Crawley Flat

A flat in Crawley, associated with anti social behaviour and reports of drug taking has been shut down under a closure order.  

The closure order, under the Anti Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act of 2014, was heard before Crawley Magistrates and served last Wednesday.  It prevents anyone from entering the flat at Robinson House in Crawley High Street. Police had received a number of reports from residents about anti social behaviour and criminal activities being conducted at the flat.
