Man dies following fight in Crawley

A man has died in hospital following a fight in Crawley.

It is believed 22-year-old Thomas Kelly had been in a car when he was involved in an altercation with another two vehicles.

Following this, all three cars drove to the High Street where a fight broke out, outside Lloyds Barbers.

Three men from Crawley and one man from Redhill, all in their 20s, have been arrested and released under investigation.

Queen’s Nurse Awards Presented to Eight Local Nurses

The Queen’s Nursing Institute has honoured eight nurses working for Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust, the Trust which runs Crawley Hospital.  

The nurses were honoured at a prestigious awards ceremony in London last week. Christine Morris, a Children’s Community Nurse based at Crawley Hospital, has been awarded the Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother Award for Outstanding contribution to community nursing.

A total of seven nurses were also awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse.

Football Update

Crawley Town are out of the FA Cup at the first-round stage for the fourth season in a row.  The Reds lost 1-0 away to Wigan on Saturday.

In the Bostik South Division Horsham won 2-1 away to Faversham Town, and South Park lost one nil at home to Cray Wanderers.

It was bad news for our local teams in the Combined Counties Premier Division;  Horley lost 5-0 at home to Abbey Rangers and Redhill lost 2-0 away to Balham.  The Lobsters now face a six  game winless run in the league with four defeats and two draws.
