Suspicious car fire in Copthorne

A car fire in Copthorne is being treated as ‘suspicious.’

Fire crews were called to Clay Hall Lane late on Wednesday night and had to use breathing apparatus while dealing with the flames.

It is believed the vehicle had been abandoned and set alight deliberately.

Crawley Firearms Suspect Remanded

A man appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with possession of an imitation firearm in a public place.  

Omar Iq-Bar from Crawley was also charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Police officers were called to Broadfield Barton on Friday evening, following reports of a man in possession of a gun.  Iq-Bar was located and arrested in nearby Crawley Avenue.  

He was further remanded to appear at Lewes Crown Court on 13th November.

Redhill Man Jailed For Multiple Offences

A man from Redhill is behind bars for 13 months for numerous offences after appearing in court this week.  

20 year old Craig Dansie was found guilty of 12 charges including criminal damage, common assault and possession of cannabis.  He was also given restraining orders against two women from Redhill.  

At an earlier court appearance Dansie pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article and was ordered to pay a £140 victim surcharge and forfeit the knife.

Bostik Premier League New Signings

Dorking Wanderers have announced the signing of former AFC Wimbledon and Margate professional, Lewis Taylor.  The Croydon born Midfielder joins the club from fellow Bostik Premier League side, Kingstonian, where he has scored 6 goals this season.  Taylor goes straight into the Dorking squad that plays Needham Market at Westhumble on Saturday.

Merstham FC has announced that Antone Douglas will return to Moatside after two months at Worthing.  Liam Harwood and Kershaney Samuels also returned to Merstham earlier this week.

Football Update

Crawley Town earned themselves a hard-fought point at Blundell Park on Saturday afternoon as Harry Kewell’s men played out a goalless draw with Grimsby Town.

In the Bostik Premier Division, Merstham lost 3-2 away to Wingate and Finchley.  

In the Bostik South, Horsham lost 1-0 away to Ramsgate and South Park also lost 2-1 away to Greenwich Borough.  East Grinstead are bottom of the table despite a 1-1 draw against Ashford United.
