One Firearm Still Missing After Surrey Police Appeal

Two firearms and a quantity of ammunition stolen in a burglary in Redhill, have been recovered following an appeal to find them. However, one remains outstanding and police officers are urging the public to help with any information.  

Officers are trying to trace a point 22 calibre Anshutz Rifle with an aluminium and walnut stock.  23 year old Jack Knight from Crawley has been charged with burglary and will appear at Guildford Magistrates Court on Thursday. Two men from Crawley have also been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods in relation to the same offence.

Noisy Works Warning for Reigate Town Hall Car Park

Work began on Saturday to remove foundations of a former office building within Reigate Town Hall car park.

Residents and businesses near the site have been advised that they are likely to experience noise disruption.  The concrete breaking works, which is the noisier part of the works, will continue on Saturday 4th March.  The removal of the concrete and reinstatement of the area to car parking will take place Monday to Friday over the following four week period.

When complete, twenty five additional car parking bays will have been created.

Football Update

In League 2, Crawley Town won 2-1 away to Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.  Substitute Josh Payne scored a late free kick in the 84th minute, as Reds returned to winning ways at Adams Park.  

In the Ryman Premier Division, Merstham lost 3-0 away to Havant and Waterlooville.  In the Ryman South, South Park won 3-0 at home to Carshalton Athletic.  Horsham also won their home match with Corinthian Casuals; the score there, 2-0.  Three Bridges gained a much needed 3 points winning 4-0 at home to Whyteleafe, and East Grinstead lost 1-0 at home to Guernsey.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division, Horley Town drew 2-2 away to AFC Hayes, and Redhill slip to third place in the Combined Counties Division One, after drawing 2-2 at home to Frimley Green.

Pub Assault in Horley

Two men have been arrested in connection with an assault at a pub in Horley.  

The incident happened outside the Airfield Tavern pub in the High Street in the early hours of 11th January.  A 38 year old man was walking into the pub when he was assaulted by two men and sustained a fractured jaw.  

Two men from Horley were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and have been released on bail until 15th March.

CBE for Council leader

David Hodge, the Leader of Surrey Council received a CBE from the Queen today.

He was awarded it for his 6 years of service to local government and charity.

Speaking after the event he said he accepted it on behalf of everyone who’s supported him.
