Funding for cricket nets in Langley Green will still go ahead

There is positive news for Crawley Eagles Cricket Club.

England and Wales Cricket Board have confirmed agreed funding for new cricket nets will still go ahead despite planning delays.

Henry Smith MP for Crawley was concerned the £50,000 grant would be lost if last-minute planning permission for the new nets at Cherry Lane in Langley Green was not granted by the end of the month.

The MP has received confirmation from the ECB the money will still be paid despite the potential delays.

Man arrested on suspicion of murder in Ifield

A 26 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in Ifield.

Fire crews were called to a car fire on Rusper Road near Horsham on Friday afternoon.

The body of a woman was found in the boot of the Volkswagen Jetta.  The cause of death has been given as smoke inhalation.

Police are still trying to identify the victim, thought to be in her 20s.

Man seen in Redhill wanted on recall to prison

A man is wanted on recall to prison.

20 year old Francis Connors has breached his licence conditions.

He was last seen by police in Redhill on 4th March.

Anyone who knows Connors’ whereabouts is asked to contact Surrey Police quoting reference 45150019832.

Information can be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Cricket Club in Langley Green could lose out on £50,000 funding

New cricket nets in Langley Green could be in jeopardy.

A £50,000 grant from England and Wales Cricket Board had been awarded for new community practice nets at Cherry Lane.

However the MP for Crawley, Henry Smith, has raised concerns that misinformation given to Crawley Eagles Cricket Club may result in funding not being received.

Mr Smith claims the Club was initially told they did not need planning permission but has since been informed it is required.

He fears if permission is not granted by the end of this month then the money from the ECB will be lost.

Police name man wanted in connection with a murder in Ifield

A man in his 20s has been named by police as someone they urgently need to speak with.

Christopher Raymond Jeffrey-Shaw from Lewisham is wanted in connection with a murder investigation in Ifield.

26 year old Jeffrey-Shaw is described as 6’, of stocky build with dark hair and has a stubbly goatee-beard.

A 34 year-old woman arrested on suspicion for conspiracy to murder has been released on bail.

Police are warning people not to approach Jeffrey-Shaw but dial 999.
