Surrey residents advised to be wary of bogus window cleaners

Surrey residents are advised to be vigilant following an incident where two men allegedly impersonated a pair of window cleaners to gain access to an elderly woman’s home.

The incident took place at around 4pm in  Winckworth Road in Banstead on Friday.

The woman answered the door to one man who asked for washing liquid before forcing entry to her home.

The second man then appeared and distracted the woman as the first man when upstairs to the 81-year-old victim’s bedroom.

He is believed to have taken a box containing jewellery.

The first man is described as white, around 5ft 9″, in his early 20s and very thin with straight dark hair.

The second is described as black with ligh skin and a small round shaped face also in his early twenties at around 5ft 3″.

Detective Constable Lewis Flanagan is appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with Surrey Police.
