Food Hygiene Stickers

Customers are taking advantage of more food hygiene information following a campaign by Crawley Borough Council.

The council’s taken part in a project to encourage Crawley food businesses to display Food Standard Agency stickers showing their hygiene rating.

The project focused on takeaways, restaurants and shops around the borough which had a rating of three, four or five but were known not to be displaying their sticker.

Officers then visited with these businesses, explaining the importance of displaying their score and the benefits of doing so.

As a result of these visits, many of the “non-displaying” businesses agreed to display their score.

Food Standards Agency research has found that around half of businesses displaying their rating have found it’s having a positive impact on their business.

Currently, the display of the food hygiene rating score is voluntary. For more information visit www.crawley.gov.uk/foodsafety and www.food.gov.uk
