Emergency services attended a car fire on the A23 southbound at Handcross Hill, close to the Warninglid junction on Monday (1st Feb) afternoon.

Lanes one and two of the three-lane section were closed to vehicles for a while.

Traffic queues built up and one lane remained closed until inspection of the road surface by highways engineers for any heat damage was complete.
