Surrey Police Issued With Body Cams

Surrey Police will soon be issued with Body Worn Video Cameras.

More than 1000 officers will be wearing them from March the 1st.

The devices will allow officers to quickly capture early evidence and could save victims having to give evidence in court.

They will also potentially reduce complaints against officers as everything will be seen by the camera. Experience from other forces such as the Met showed that 80% of the complaints against them could be disproved using video capture.

And another benefit from the use of Body Worn Video is that it helps to increase public awareness of the dangers police face on a daily basis.
