Maidenbower Sculpture Moves to a New Home

A popular Maidenbower sculpture, ‘The Clouds are High’ has been refurbished and moved from its original home along Worth Way.

It was commissioned by Crawley Borough Council in 2001 and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund for the Crawley Greenway Art Project.  When planning the re-installation of the sculpture, council officers settled on the small hill in front of Maidenbower Community Centre due to its centrality and visibility.

The artist, Kate Munro refurbished the three figures, and the poles were replaced with steel, which will weather and rust to create a more urban feel and reflect the new location.
