Gatwick airport is leading the way in converting waste into energy.
It’s been shortlisted for the Sustainability Leaders Award after becoming the first airport to be able to convert food waste and packaging on non-eu flights into energy, which will then be used to heat the north terminal.
It’s 85 per cent recycling rate is the best of any UK airport.
