Surrey pupils above national average in reading, writing and maths

Surrey school children are among the best performing in country according to national tests for 11-year olds.

60% of school children in county reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths – higher than the national average of 54%.

It comes as figures show 11,000 new places in the area need to be found over the next 5 years, despite a shortfall in funding.
