Crawley father speaks about wait for medical mistakes compensation

A Crawley father has spoken out about the length of time families have to wait for compensation for medical mistakes.

Thomas Hord, now 8-years-old has cerebral palsy and is unable to speak or walk after being starved of oxygen at birth due to midwives failure to place a foetal heart monitor in the right position.

His father Chris says it can take lawyers years to work out the extent of the damage, “because you can’t tell how affected they are going to be until a child starts going through their development”

They had to wait seven years before securing a £2.5 million lump sum and annual payments for Thomas’s care.
