Surrey propose new regulations to protect the vulnerable

National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day was held at the weekend.

Under new regulations being proposed by Surrey County Council, taxi and private hire drivers will be required to complete Child Sexual Exploitation and safeguarding awareness training.  Existing drivers will have 12 months to complete the training and new drivers must complete it prior to being awarded a licence.

All eleven district and borough councils are in the process of approving the countywide policy and in addition Surrey County Council is also insisting drivers involved in the transport of children complete the training.
