Preparations are being made to deal with possible flooding of the Caterham Bourne.  The groundwater fed river flows through Whyteleafe from Wapses Lodge across into Croydon at Kenley. 

Tandridge District Council and the Environment Agency are working to protect homes in Godstone Road near the Shell garage by building sandbag walls.  Additional pipework is being installed in the rear gardens of homes in Downsway to ensure the watercourse runs freely. Gates on the ponds along Woldingham Road are being closed when needed to relieve the pressure on the water flow in the Bourne.
