East Grinstead man charged with armed robbery

Police investigating a report of a armed robbery in East Grinstead have charged a man. 

On Sunday in the early hours of the morning the victim was walking along Lewes Road when two suspects on a motorbike issued threats against him with a weapon and demanded that he hand over his belongings. 

18 year old Jack Chambers was arrested and charged with robbery and possession of  an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear or violence. He was also charged with receiving stolen goods, criminal damage and possession of Class A and B drugs in connection with separate incidents. 

Chambers has been remanded in custody and will appear in court at a date yet to be confirmed. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to call 101.
