Over £20m in government grants awarded to local businesses

Businesses in Reigate and Banstead have benefitted from more than £20 million in government grants to help them survive the Coronavirus pandemic.

Businesses have applied for grants ranging from £10,000 to £51,000 and payouts began on April 1. A second loan scheme, to help small and medium businesses with amounts of between £2,000 and £50,000, was also announced late last month.

On May 1st, the Government announced a third scheme, which is a new discretionary fund to accommodate small businesses with ongoing fixed property costs. Reigate and Banstead Borough Council says it is still waiting for guidance and funding for this latest scheme.
