Building starts on new homes in Redhill

Cromwell Road, Redhill (MH Architects)

Reigate & Banstead Borough Council’s project to build 32 new flats at Cromwell Road in Redhill began earlier this month.

At least 30% of the five-storey residential block of 16 one- and 16 two-bedroom flats will be affordable.

Last year shops and flats on the site were demolished to make way for the new development which will also include modern retail premises.

The project will be delivered by Neilcott Construction Ltd and work will begin with site set-up, hoarding installation and groundworks with completion expected in Autumn 2021.

In Tadworth, nine one- and two-bedroom flats, eight two-bedroomed houses, and eight three-bedroomed houses are being built on the site of the former Pitwood Park industrial site, which had been vacant for several years.

Cllr Knight, Executive Member for Housing and Benefits, said:
“I’m really pleased that we are moving ahead with these important schemes despite the challenging times we find ourselves in.

“We are committed to making our communities great places for people to live and work. By delivering these projects ourselves we can regenerate two redundant sites while creating much needed new homes, including more affordable homes.

“Both Thakeham and Neilcott have extensive experience in delivering similar high-quality projects. Both companies are working in line with government guidelines for delivering construction projects as business as usual during the Covid-19 outbreak.”
