Reigate and Banstead’s Chief Executive has stepped down after more than 10 years in the role.

John Jory, who joined the council as Chief Executive in 2010, left the role on Friday. Council Leader Mark Brunt paid tribute to Mr Jory’s excellent stewardship and leadership of council staff as he expressed his gratitude for his outstanding efforts and contribution.

He said: “I, and all Councillors, are grateful for the outstanding efforts and contribution of our outgoing Chief Executive, John Jory, who has served this Council for 10 years.”

The council said Mr Jory has supported members and senior managers in reshaping the vision for the borough and focusing resources on delivering services, despite the financial challenges facing local government.

An interim Chief Executive will be recruited while the council considers a permanent appointment.
