It’s just over 50 years since ‘The Railway Children’ hit the silver screen in December 1970.

Many may remember the wonderful dramatic music as the camera moved in towards the train, and the waving cast at the end of the film.

That music was composed by Johnny Douglas who recorded for DECCA and RCA, and is credited for over 100 albums and 36 feature films including working with Dame Shirley Bassey, Max Bygraves and Jimmy Tarbuck.

What you may not have known is that he was Grandfather to local voice over artist and Redhill Choiroke organiser, Louise Camby who this week on the 50th anniversary of her grandfathers BAFTA nomination, spoke to the film’s leading actress Jenny Agutter by video call.

Jenny Agutter speaking, with thanks to Louise Camby for sharing this with Susy Radio.
