Witnesses sought to violent incident in Crawley

Police in Crawley are appealing for witnesses in relation to a violent incident in the town centre, in which a woman was assaulted, and a baby girl was taken into a car which drove off at speed.
The one-year-old child was with a man and a woman on Monday in the play area of the Memorial Garden, when he took hold of the infant and walked off towards the car park, while pushing the woman.
It’s said he then drove off at speed with the child inside.

The Police were informed and pursued the car to the nearby West Green area, where a 28-year-old man was arrested on multiple offences, including making threats to kill and possessing an offensive weapon.

He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
