The first flight using sustainable aviation fuel departed from Gatwick Airport yesterday.

It is one of 42 Easyjet flights operating from the airport to be powered by a 30 percent blend of sustainable aviation fuel.  The SAF fuel is produced from 100% renewable and sustainable waste and residue raw materials such as cooking oil and animal fat waste.

The fuel will be used on all Easyjet flights operating from Gatwick to Glasgow throughout the COP26 Climate Change Conference which starts at the end of the month.

Additionally, Easyjet in partnership with World Fuel Services, has introduced an electric hydrant dispenser at the airport which will serve its fleet of 71 aircraft at Gatwick.
