Gatwick Airport Issues Apology

Gatwick Airport has apologised to a disabled passenger who was left on a plane for more than an hour and a half after it had landed.

Victoria Brignell, said her wheelchair arrived promptly, but was told it could take up to 50 minutes to help her from the aircraft, as the people who were supposed to assist were busy elsewhere.

The knock-on effect meant other passengers hoping to board the plane for a different flight were also delayed.

A spokesman for the airport said: “The treatment received at Gatwick was unacceptable and we would like to offer our sincere apologies to Victoria. An urgent investigation into the cause of the delay is now underway.”
