Gatwick Passengers: Increase In Prohibited Items

Airport passengers are being reminded not to bring items to Gatwick which are prohibited in the UK.

Authorities have seen an increase in the number of items having to be confiscated in searches.  These can include small multi-tools with a locking blade which can be classified as offensive weapons.  Other items which are legal to possess in other countries but are not in the UK, include incapacitant sprays or pepper spray.

Sussex Police has reminded passengers to check their bags before they travel; they advise that possession of these items will constitute an offence and may result in a criminal prosecution.
