Surrey granted further funding from the Local Covid Support Grant

It’s been revealed that Surrey County Council has been granted further funding from the Government’s Local Covid Support grant.

An extra £500,000 has been awarded in recognition of the devastating financial impact COVID has had on some of Surrey’s residents.

The money will be split several ways and will include covering support for families, contribution to foodbanks and those in emergency need.

Residents urged to keep their homes secure this summer

Sussex Police are reminding residents to ensure their homes, garages and outbuildings are secure as we continue to move out of lockdown.

Over the last 12 months, reports of burglaries have dropped across the county as the UK’s movement restrictions helped to contribute towards this.

Now the summer is approaching, police are anticipating that burglars may seize opportunities to target empty properties when people are out.

Secret Carnival Family Trail

This May half term, families are invited to track down the ‘Secret Carnival’ via their smartphones thanks to Reigate & Banstead Borough Council.

As part of its ongoing campaign to support local businesses, the Council has teamed up with QR code experts, to create a free and interactive story-trail designed to encourage children to walk, get engaged and have fun.

The event takes place from the 29th May to 13th June and launches in four locations including Horley, Redhill and Reigate town centres, along with Tadworth and Walton on the Hill shopping parades.

To take part in a trail, all you need is a smartphone to scan the many posters you will see on the route.

Coronavirus cases in Crawley have more than halved.

Two weeks ago the area had one of the highest rates in the South East with 27 per 100,000

Figures for last week show this has dropped to 9.8 per 100,000

While all areas have seen case numbers drop, Eastbourne recorded zero cases.

Patients to get update on Pond Tail Surgery

Patients registered at Pond Tail Surgery in Godstone are being offered information sessions about the future of the GP practice.

It’s in response to fears it could have to close following the death of Doctor Khan-Gilbert last year.

Surrey Heartlands who run the surgery say the face-to-face and online events will give patients an opportunity to hear about the provisions being made for a GP service.

The six events will last 30 minutes and take place on 9th June and 14th June between 10am and 4pm at the The White Hart Barn in Godstone. The two online events will also last 30 minutes and take place 10th June and 22nd June between 7pm and 7.30pm.
