Crawley Fire Extinguisher Attack

A cashier has been attacked with a fire extinguisher at an off licence in Crawley.

Police have just released details of the incident last Friday afternoon at Handy Corner.

The cashier was sprayed in the face with the extinguisher, and two low-value bottles of alcohol were stolen.

All three ran off towards the town centre.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw what happened, or who recognises either of the men, to report it online or call 101, quoting serial 769 of 18/01.

Collision in Earlswood Involving Police Car and Pedestrian

A collision involving a police car and a pedestrian took place in Earlswood on Friday evening.

The incident happened on the A23 at 7 pm. The police car was responding on blue lights to a 999 call. The pedestrian, a woman in her 20s, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The incident is being investigated by Surrey Police’s Roads Policing Unit. Any witnesses are urged to contact them on 101.

SASH Rated Outstanding By The Care Quality Commission

Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, the Trust which runs East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission.

The team of CQC inspectors who recently visited the NHS Trust inspected five core areas of patient care. The safe and effective categories were rated ‘good’. The caring, well-led and responsive categories were rated ‘outstanding’. These combined resulted in an overall rating of ‘outstanding’ for the Trust which was an increase from the previous ‘good’ rating given to SASH by the CQC in 2014.

Football Update

In League 2, Crawley Town lost 1-0 at home to Port Vale on Saturday.

Merstham move up to 5th place in the Bostik Premier Division after winning 2-1 away to Carshalton Athletic.

In the Bostik South East Division, it was a 4-4 draw for East Grinstead Town and Three Bridges in a local Sussex derby at East Court.  Horsham lost 1-0 away to Phoenix Sports.

South Park won their Bostik South Central Division match 3-2 at home to Hertford Town.

In the Combined Counties Premier Division, Horley Town won 2-1 at home to AFC Hayes and Redhill won 2-0 away to Balham FC.
