‘Southern Fail: The Musical’ makes light of commuter misery

A satirical stage show is hoping to turn the frowns caused by the Southern Rail fiasco upside down.

‘Southern Fail: The Musical’ is about two commuters who become friends and stand up to the firm.  It features songs such as ‘Imagine There’s No Southern’ and ‘Haywards Heath’ to the tune of the 1970s hit Echo Beach.

The show premieres at the Brighton Fringe Festival today and tomorrow with other dates in Shoreham and Brighton to follow.

Increase in child sex offences in Surrey involving the internet

Child Sex offences involving the internet have increased by 70% in Surrey, higher than the 44% average for England and Wales.

A Freedom of Information Request by the NSPCC from Surrey Police, shows 53 crimes were committed between 2016 and 2017, up from 31 the year before.

Paul Wanless, the charity’s boss is calling on the government to force internet companies and social media sites to adhere to rules that keep young users safe.

Redhill man cleared of killing wife in retrial

A Redhill man’s been cleared of killing his wife in a retrial, saying it was in self-defence after she ‘flipped like the Marvel Comics character the Hulk.’

43-year-old, Robert Rhodes left a 13cm wound in Dawn Rhode’s neck after disarming her when she came at him at speed with a kitchen knife in their home in Wimbourne Avenue in June.

The pair had decided to divorce after Mrs Rhodes was having an affair and the row had been about Mr Rhodes’s new relationship.

After the jury delivered its verdict, the Judge said it had been, “a great tragedy for all,” and “there are no winners, only losers.”

Crawley’s new boss hopes to bring together everyone at the club

Crawley Town’s new Head Coach, Harry Kewall, says he’ll put everything into his new job and hopes to bring together everyone at the club.

The former Australian international was speaking at his first press conference since taking the job on Friday.

He also said his time as a player would be the influence behind his tactics of a more attacking style of play as a manager.
