New car For Horsham Neighbourhood Policing Team

Horsham Neighbourhood Policing Team has received a new sponsored car, with the support of Swan Walk shopping centre and Lifestyle Ford.

The new red Ford Fiesta has been provided for the team to use in the Horsham district, with sponsorship agreed for the next three years.

The new car will allow policing teams to access the communities within the district.

Swan Walk manager Gill Buchanan says that the new agreement is “really exciting”.

Serious Collision Newdigate

The driver of a Toyota Yaris has suffered serious injuries following a collision with a Mercedes Vito van in Newdigate.

The car had come from Newdigate village and was heading in the direction of Leigh Sunday afternoon when the collision occurred in Parkgate Road.

Two occupants of the van  suffered minor injuries.

The road was closed for over 4 hours while the air ambulance attended the scene and investigations were carried out.

Arrests made in Redhill for Firearms Offences

Enquiries are ongoing in an attempt to locate a man who was reportedly brandishing a weapon in Redhill.

Witnesses contacted police after seeing him on the balcony of a flat in Timperley Gardens shortly before 8 o’clock Sunday evening.

Three people were arrested at the scene for firearms offences, obstructing police, public order and assault with intention to resist arrest.  The man believed to have been on the balcony has not yet been located.

The search continues and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.

Landowners Fined for Unauthorised Gatwick Parking

Owners of a property in Horley have been fined almost £5,000 following a successful planning enforcement prosecution by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council.  

The residential property with large muddy fields off Harrowsley Green Lane had been used for unauthorised airport parking.  David and Eliza Flitton had allowed their land to be illegally used by Britannia Airport Parking, also known as Easy Parking Gatwick.  

The Council served a temporary stop notice, requiring the parking activity to stop immediately but Mr and Mrs Flitton did not comply.  Over 500 vehicles were parked in breach of planning control.  

Redhill Safe Haven For People in Mental Health Crisis

People living near Redhill who are suffering from a mental health crisis now have an alternative to attending Accident and Emergency or to phoning the Crisis Line.  

Help is at hand with the launch of a nightly drop in centre.  The Redhill Safe Haven opened at the end of March with its official launch a couple of weeks ago.  It was set up by the East Surrey Clinical Commissioning Group in partnership with Surrey and Borders NHS Trust, the Richmond Fellowship and Reigate Stepping Stones.  The Safe Haven is open 365 days a year between 6 pm and 11 pm and is situated at the Wingfield Centre in St Anne’s Drive near to Redhill Station.
