New Retail Park Almost Complete

A new Manor Royal retail park housing three major shops is nearing completion – with the first tenant set to open in September.

Acorn Retail Park, in Betts Way near County Oak, will become home to Aldi, Marks and Spencer Simply Food and Smyths Toys later this year and is expected to provide hundreds of jobs for local people.

Kier, a leading property, residential, construction and services group with a regional office in Manor Royal Business District, is expecting to complete the building of Acorn Retail Park in July.

The first retailer is expected to open its doors in September, following fit-out of the individual stores.

Gatwick Opens New Pier 1

Gatwick Airport has marked its busiest May ever by opening the new Pier 1. The biggest single investment since new ownership.

The month’s figures took Gatwick’s moving annual total passenger numbers to just over 41 million – a new world record for a single runway airport.

The Pier 1 facility which replaces the old Pier 1, houses an entirely new baggage system for the South Terminal and state-of-the-art passenger gate rooms with views across the runway.

The development hopes to improve efficiency and reduces delays both on and off the airfield.

Missing Beth Lloyd Found

The Crawley teenager who went missing last Friday has been found Safe and Well.

Beth Lloyd was believed to have got on a train at Lancing railway station to travel to Nottingham to meet a friend.

She was found at 10am on Monday (13 June).

Seven Charged In Police Operation Against Drink- Drug Driving

In the first week of Sussex and Surrey Police’s Operation on the crackdown on drink and drug-driving, 7 people have been charged with Drink or drug driving offences.

Alongside the seven people charged, a further 13 have been arrested for drink or drug driving related offences – 10 are on bail; two have been released without charge and one faces no further action.

Two further motorists have been dealt with by way of a summons to court.

Surrey Police is releasing the names of those who have been charged across the county. Officers will be tweeting about people who have been stopped on suspicion of drink or drug-driving offences, giving brief details of an incident.

Crawley Town Sign Mersin

Crawley Town football has signed on a new player to the the team.

The Reds have signed goalkeeper Yusuf Mersin from Turkish top-tier side Kasimpasa on a two-year contract.

The 21-year-old, who has represented Turkey at Under-17 and Under-18 level, has spent time in the youth set-ups of Millwall and Liverpool.

Mersin is the League Two club’s sixth signing of the summer.
