Football Update

Crawley Town gained a point in their 1-1 draw at home to Forest Green Rovers on Saturday.  The Reds are in 16th place in League 2. 

In the Isthmian Premier Division, Horsham are in 3rd place after losing 2-1 away to Hornchurch FC.  Merstham are one place above the relegation zone following their 3-2 defeat at home to Potters Bar Town. The Moatsiders were down to 10 men after Omar Folkes was sent off in the first half.  

East Grinstead Town remain bottom of the South East Division table losing 2-1 in their home match against Sittingbourne.  Three Bridges lost 3-1 at home to Haywards Heath Town.

South Park lost their South Central Division match 2-0 at home to Westfield.

Policing Your Community: Public Engagement Events In Surrey

A series of ‘Policing Your Community’ events is being held in every borough and district across Surrey during the next few weeks. 

The public engagement events include presentations from Surrey Police’s Chief Officer Group, and Crime Commissioner, David Munro. Residents can also ask questions and engage with their local Borough Commander.  There will be updates on policing priorities and community issues in each area together with an update on future plans for the service in Surrey.

Events take place at the Dorking Halls this Thursday 9th January, at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill on Tuesday 28th, and at South Godstone Community Hall on Thursday 30th January; all start at 6.45 pm.

FLOOD WARNING FOR BURSTOW STREAM IN HORLEY

A flood warning has been put in place for the Burstow stream in Horley.

Yesterday the Environment Agency said river levels had risen following heavy rain and that further rainfall was forecast over the next 48 hours.

The agency said there was a possibility of flooding for properties on and around Bonehurst Road and Peeks Brook Lane, near the river.

CRAWLEY TOWN TO PLAY OLDHAM ATHLETIC

Crawley Town are to play Oldham Athletic for the ninth time this Saturday.

In the past eight games Oldham have won four direct matches, with Crawley winning two and the other two matches ending in a draw.

Kick-of for the Sky Bet League two match will be at 3pm at the Boundary Park.

CRAWLEY MP SWORN OATH FOR FOURTH TERM

Crawleys MP has sworn in to serve a fourth term as member of parliament.

Henry Smith said it was a honour to be re-elected and was ready to continue the responsibility of representing the town in the House of Commons.

Smith said he welcomed proposals for extra funding for the NHS and helping more people get into a well-paid job as well as providing help with the cost of living,

This will be the first time a MP has served a fourth term for the town.
