Brand new community artwork is set to be unveiled at Crawley’s Bluebird club.

Crawley Wellbeing recruited local artist Vanessa Cumper to collaborate with local students in designing floor to ceiling banners for the club that gives those with learning disabilities and their friends a place where they can relax and dance to live music.

The new artwork will be hung up this coming Wednesday night at The Hawth.

A man has been jailed for breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order at Gatwick Airport.

In the early hours of Tuesday morning, officers were called about a theft at the airport’s North terminal Marks and Spencer. After being challenged by the shop staff, 52 -year old Darren Pullen was chased and detained. Enquiries revealed Pullen was subject to a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order last July due to a past of similar wrongdoing.

Pullen was sentenced to 12 weeks imprisonment after pleading guilty to both offences.

Local organisations in the Tandridge area are being invited to apply for funding for small projects to improve the High Weald landscape. 

The Sussex Lund programme has re-opened for grant applications of between £500 and £10,000.

The programme will consider supporting projects that improve wildlife, scenic beauty and access to the countryside.

The deadline for applications is 2 March 2020.

Solar farms developed by West Sussex County Council are generating more clean electricity than expected.

Tangmere solar farm produced over 5000 MWh of clean electricity this financial year, while Westhampnett produced nearly 2000 MWh in just a few months.

The news comes during ‘Save Energy’ month – part of the County Council’s Climate Pledge.

The names of Surrey and Sussex police officers and staff who have died on duty will be commemorated on a new digital memorial.

The new memorial which was launched on Tuesday is to honour the sacrifice of those from our Police service who have lost their lives.

The website will publish the names and photographs of those police officers and staff who died on that particular day with a short citation.

The memorial was created by the Police Arboretum Memorial Trust, in partnership with Twitter UK.
