West Sussex residents may have seen gritters out in force on Saturday despite the mild weather.
The gritters were testing that West Sussex Highways are winter ready. No grit was used in The Operation Snowflake annual practice run which prepares the county council to keep priority routes safe. Checks were made to ensure the gritters and equipment are in good working order ahead of any severe weather.
Crawley Town drop to 13th place in League 2 following their 2-1 loss away to Bradford City on Saturday.
Horsham are in second place in the Isthmian League Premier Division after winning 4-0 at home to Merstham. Merstham are in 17th place.
In the South Central Division, Reigate side, South Park won 4-0 at home to Northwood. East Grinstead Town lost 3-0 at home to Whitstable and are now bottom of the South East Division table. Three Bridges lost 4-0 at home to Phoenix Sports.
Redhill beat Camberley Town 2-1 at Kiln Brow. Horley Town lost 3-2 away to Little Common.
Crawley Town FC will visit East Preston in the second round of the Sussex Senior Cup.
The tie will be played at the Roundstone Recreation Ground on the 4th November.
The hosts are currently 18th in the Southern Combination Football League.
A local airport has become the first in the UK to use facial-recognition cameras.
Gatwick confirmed it will have ID checks before passengers board planes following on from a trial carried out in partnership with EasyJet last year.
The airport said the technology should reduce queuing times but travellers would still need to carry passports.
Two people have been arrested with links to a succession of criminal damage in Crawley.
Officers responded to calls about a number of vehicles and buildings that had been deliberately damaged by the firing of ball bearings, causing two people to be treated for minor injuries.
At present the suspects are remanded in custody while enquiries are ongoing.
