Crawley’s New Museum To Open

A new museum will open in Crawley on Sunday.  

The museum is located at The Tree on the corner of the High Street and the Boulevard.  Backed by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Crawley Borough Council, the museum will feature displays for Crawley’s diverse heritage and history.

Permanent displays including a 1903 Rex Forecar and a Bronze Age sword.

Freedom Leisure takes Over Tandridge Leisure Facilities

Freedom Leisure has now taken over Tandridge Leisure Centre in Oxted and The Village Health Club in Caterham.  

The not-for-profit organisation already operates de Stafford Sports Centre in Caterham following a successful merger with Tandridge Trust.  Improvements will be made at both Tandridge Leisure Centre and The Village Health Club.

The £1.2 million improvements at de Stafford Sports Centre are due to be completed at the end of September.

Police Summer Drink and Drug Driving Campaign Coincides With World Cup

Police are urging motorists to stay onside as the latest drink and drug-driving campaign coincides with the 2018 World Cup.  

The Surrey and Sussex Roads Policing Unit will tackle the issue throughout the football tournament which runs until 15th July.  The goal is to ensure motorists know the score when it comes to driving under the influence – or face the penalty. There will be targeted patrols and stop checks throughout the summer campaign.

Those driving under the influence of drink or drugs face a minimum 12 month ban, an unlimited fine, and a criminal record. Other consequences include an increase in car insurance and trouble travelling to countries such as the USA.

Horsham Murder: Two Men Found Guilty

Two men have been found guilty of killing Horsham father, Anthony Williams.

Following a three week trial at Hove Crown Court, a jury found Nicholas Bridge from Brixton guilty of murder, and Daniel Onofeghare of no fixed address guilty of manslaughter following the death last September.

Both men will be sentenced on 13th July.
