The Local Plan: Garden Villages Consultation

Tandridge District Council’s Garden Villages Consultation starts today and will run until 9th October.

Residents can have their say on the issues of a garden village development as well as the potential location. A garden village development forms part of the preferred strategy the Council is pursuing in preparing the Local Plan.

The Council has looked at four potential locations for a garden village: Blindley Heath, land west of Edenbridge, Redhill Aerodrome and South Godstone. Five public exhibition events are taking place, the next being at Nutfield Village Hall on Tuesday 22nd August from 3.30-8.00 pm.

A Garden Villages Consultation document is available at tandridge.gov.uk/localplan.

Parents speak of having the ‘air taken from their lungs’ after being told about their son’s condition

A couple from Reigate has spoken about ‘having the air taken from their lungs’ when told to prepare for their son’s possible death by doctors.

Sophie and Mike Condie were speaking to the Surrey Mirror about their 3-year-old son, Reuben, who has Joubert Syndrome, a disability which affects mobility and muscles and can cause him to stop breathing.  About 1,500 people are diagnosed with it worldwide.

Concern is now growing as Reuben has stopped breathing for longer recently – it can now be between 6 and 9 minutes.

His parents are currently fundraising to reach £85,000, so their home can be fitted with the necessary equipment to create a comfortable space for their son.

Information on how to donate or get involved can be found here:  http://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/superboy

Reds were punished for switching off says Kewell

Crawley Town coach Harry Kewell says Birmingham City’s first goal was the turning point of Wednesday’s 5-1 defeat – before this, he says they were in the game.

Crawley managed to get on the scoreboard minutes from the final whistle when substitute Panutche Camara hit the back of the net, but it wasn’t enough and Kewell admits they were punished for switching off.

The Reds away against Cheltenham Town on Saturday.
