Football Update

It was a quiet weekend for our local teams in the Susy Radio area with matches postponed due to frozen pitches.

Crawley’s League 2 match against Portsmouth was called off as was Merstham’s Ryman Premier League match against Metropolitan Police.  Only three matches took place in the Ryman South, one of which was Whyteleafe’s match away to Guernsey; the visitors won 2-1.

Elsewhere, Redhill and Horley Town’s matches were also postponed.

Gatwick Terminal Moves for EasyJet, BA and Virgin Atlantic

Three of Gatwick Airport’s major carriers will move terminals this week.

EasyJet will operate entirely from the North Terminal from tomorrow.  British Airways and Virgin Atlantic will switch terminals from Wednesday, so that British Airways will move to the South Terminal and Virgin Atlantic will move to the North Terminal.  Two British Airways flights to New York and Naples have already moved to the South Terminal ahead of the general move on Wednesday.

Signs across the airport will change to display the correct information and 70 additional helpers will be on hand to point passengers in the right direction.

Gatwick Airport says these changes will improve facilities with state of the art technology at check in, security and immigration as well as new bag drop zones.

Plans to expand schools in Surrey

There’s plans to expand 11 schools in Surrey from September to meet the rising demand for places.

If they go ahead, 1020 Primary and 650 Secondary places will be created – meaning 1670 total.

It’s some way short of the 11,000 extra school places said to be needed over the next 5 years, but Linda Kemeny the Council’s Cabinet member for schools says “it’s a step in the right direction.”
