Surrey Youth Games

The P&G Surrey Youth Games programme from Active Surrey offers children aged 7-16 free coaching in 14 different sports at local venues.

It also offers the chance to compete, representing Reigate & Banstead, during the two day P&G Surrey Youth Games 2016 in Guildford in the summer.

These Games are a sports competition where boroughs and districts from across Surrey enter teams into different sporting events.

One of the aims of the youth games is to encourage young people to develop their sports skills.

Free coaching sessions for participants start this month.

To be eligible children must live or go to school in the borough of Reigate & Banstead and be below county standard for the sport they wish to take part in.

Crawley Town Purchase

Crawley Town have announced that Ziya Eren’s purchase of the club should be formally completed today (Wednesday 9 March) after his takeover was approved by the Football League.

He’s been in negotiations to buy the League Two team since October.

Turkish businessman Eren recently said he hopes to take Crawley to the Championship within 10 years.

In a statement issued to BBC Sussex, Eren, who is also involved in football in Turkey, described Crawley as a club with “a long history” and “huge potential”.

Meanwhile, Luke Rooney has left The Reds after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

The 28-year-old midfielder, whose deal was due to expire this summer, is set to join United Soccer League side Arizona United, where he recently had a trial.
