Sport: Crawley Town signing Will Ferry first interview

New Crawley Town Football Club signing, Will Ferry, says he is looking forward to getting on the pitch and showing what he can do.

The 20-year-old has joined on a season loan from Southampton and is the fifth signing for the Reds in this summer’s transfer window.

In his first interview the defender says he has met his new team mates and head coach John Yems and is looking to get as much game time as possible.

Speaking about his playing style and positions, the Republic of Ireland U21 says he likes to be out wide in attacking situations and is happy to be play left wing or left back.

Horley CC Fun Day

Children and adults from Horley Cricket Club enjoyed a fabulous Fun Day at the club on Friday 23 July and raised £1,500 for their £40,000 appeal for a new two-lane practice net to be built at the Horley Row ground.

The appeal got an extra boost at the event when the club’s long-time generous sponsor, Keymex, donated £5,000 to the total, with owner Richard Stephenson handing a cheque to club chairman Colin Terry, surrounded by delighted adult and junior players.

The day was well attended, with everyone enjoying the inflatables, water games, cricket games and barbecue. Colin Terry said: “It was a roaring success and we will make it even better next year. It was a great day for the club. To get the donation from Keymex was a big step forward to getting the nets and a wonderful gesture to help the club and the community we are part of. We would also like to say big thanks to Horley Spinal Health for their sponsorship and to Tesco, Waitrose and Specsavers for providing raffle prizes.”

Horley are well on the way to the project’s total cost of £40,000 with grants from Sport England, Raven Housing, the Gatwick Community Fund, Reigate and Banstead Borough Council, plus the new gift from Keymex and £500 from Horley Spinal Health. Planning permission has already been granted for the project.

Snacking and comfort eating were given as the main contributor by about half of those who said they were fatter.

PHE are now running a Better Health campaign, which offers free support and guidance on how to lose excess weight and become active using a 12-week plan.
