Cigarette Thefts in Redhill and Crawley

Several thousand pounds worth of cigarettes have been stolen in Redhill.

It is thought that the occupant of a green Ford Mondeo took the cigarettes from a Co-operative lorry after the delivery driver stopped for directions around 10.30 Saturday morning.

The driver parked up in the High Street and saw the offender leave the rear of his lorry and get into the Mondeo.

The suspect is described as a white man, with dark hair, around 5ft 10ins tall and of plump build. He was wearing a high-vis jacket at the time of the offence.

Around £25,000 worth of cigarettes are thought to have been taken in the theft.

Meanwhile over 3-and-a-half thousand pounds worth of cigarettes were stolen from the back of a lorry outside a Co-Op store in Ifield Parade.

A man, described as white, about 25 years old, 6′ and of average build was seen fleeing with a large bag after opening up the rear of the lorry as it was reversing.

He was wearing a red vest and black hat.

The theft happened at around 6 o’clock last Tuesday afternoon.
