An investigation has been launched after a woman woke in the early hours to find burglars in her house.

Two or three men were reported in the property off Hermitage Lane in East Grinstead Friday morning.

They demanded money from the 40-year-old occupant.  She did not have the money requested and phoned her son.  The 18 year-old arrived from a nearby address but still did not have the money.  At one point he was punched in the stomach and sustained a minor facial injury.

The intruders left taking the woman’s mobile phone and some designer clothing.

There was no sign of a forced entry and no weapons or vehicle were seen.
