Surrey Police accused of using ‘scare tactics’

Surrey Police have been accused of using ‘scare tactics’ to stop protests against oil drilling in Brockham and Leith Hills.

A recent report by Netpol into the policing of anti-fracking protesters says some Police tactics are seen as intimidating and undermine the democratic right to protest.

8 activists have been arrested in the last 3 days for blocking a lane used by lorries to access the oil fields.  The Force has responded saying, it’s balancing the “rights of protesters alongside the rights of the lorry drivers”.
