Man Jailed for Attempted Murder in Crawley

A man has been jailed for 20 years after being found guilty of attempted murder following a shooting in Broadfield, Crawley in July last year.

39-year-old Daniel Harris of no fixed address was also found guilty of possession of a shotgun with intent to cause fear of violence, assault and criminal damage following a trial at Hove Crown Court in February.

Harris had approached a couple he knew in a car in Jersey Road last July.  He fired a gun into the vehicle while they were inside.  They drove off but the female passenger suffered a burst eardrum.  The male driver was uninjured.

Harris had denied all four charges, and returned to Court on Friday for sentencing.
