Mental health patients in Sussex live 20 years

People with mental health problems in Sussex live up to 20 years less than the rest of the population.

The report by a group of 24 health and social care organisations in the region found the 7% of the population with mental health problems made up 20% of all A&E admissions and are between 2 and 4 times more likely to die of cancer

Sam Allen the CEO of Sussex NHS Trust says it shows services aren’t meeting the needs of those with mental health problems and “getting a grip on this is about saving lives.”
