Crawley Firefighter Rings his Last Bell

Steve Clack
West Sussex County Council
A firefighter from West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service will be turning off his pager for the last time after nearly thirty years in the service.

Steve Clack joined between Christmas and New Year in 1991, and served at Chichester, Crawley, Horsham and Worthing fire stations.

Steve recalls when he went to Crawley station in 1992, there was a bar with a whole line of optics and a cigarette machine. It was a different era and seemed quite absurd.

The team’s work across the whole service was noted earlier this year in the service’s Annual Awards, when they received recognition as ‘Team of the Year’.
