Rejection for Caterham’s Levelling Up Fund Bid

A bid to the Government’s Levelling Up Fund, for improvements to Caterham Town Centre, has been rejected.

The Levelling Up fund is to give people and communities who feel they’ve been left behind, a chance to catch up.

Tandridge District Council submitted a bid for just under five million pounds to the Levelling Up Fund to make Caterham Valley more resilient to flooding as well as making it a more attractive place to shop and work.  The rejection of the bid came just two days before further flooding in Caterham’s town centre.

Speaking on BBC Radio Surrey, Leader of the Council, Councillor Catherine Sayer, expressed her disappointment and outlined why funding is needed for the town.
