Empty properties to see rise in tax bill

Empty properties in the Mole Valley could see their council tax triple, after a unanimous vote by the District council.

Houses left vacant for between two and 10 years will pay 150%, while properties empty for more than 10 years will see a 300% rise.

There are currently 122 properties in Mole Valley that have been empty between two and 19 years.

Councillor Bridget Kendrick said the change would bring “vital housing stock back into our communities.”
